Nothing ceases to amaze me about Derek’s commitment, love, passion and perseverance. From sitting in my office as a Sophomore in HS at Santa Teresa to LaJolla Prep to San Diego Christian to Foothill College to a walk-on at Cal Berkeley he “Trusted the Process”, “Never Quit”, “Worked Hard” and the result speaks for it self. About Derek
Good all around shooter, mid range, off screens, flares and catch and shoot situations. Attacks the bucket strong. High IQ player know how to make reads within Princeton offense and other complicated offenses. Basketball is my passion and I have a great attitude and work ethic. Strong defender that understands defensive midline principles. Take a lot of charges. Took 4 charges in one game against Canada college. Averaged 14.1 ppg at Santa Teresa HS. Won CCS at Santa Clara University against Serra HS. After high school went to La Jolla Prep School which eventually shut down. After Prep school went to San Diego Christian College on a partial scholarship and redshirted. (NAIA D1 GSAC). Spent the last two seasons at Foothill JC in Los Altos. Season high 27 points against skyline college. Beat #1 ranked Fresno city college (29-2) to advance to the Elite 8 of State last year.
